Yes you can use SOME TYPES of Crystal Litter in your LitterMaid!

As a matter of fact, we use our own LitterWorks Crystal Litter here at the LitterWorks Headquarters! At the time of this writing, we have not interacted with the LitterBox in over nine days (and counting)! We have two kitties here.

IMPORTANT!

We use our own brand here (of course)! We have found that larger Crystals might not work as well (if at all!). Before investing in Crystal Litter, test a smaller amount! LitterWorks Crystal Litter has already been tested by us (and our test kitties Ari and Pru).

• Crystal Litter won't clog because it doesn't clump!
• Is the best litter to use to reduce your time spent maintaining the litter box! Because Crystal Litter doesn't clump, less of it is removed from the litter area, and therefore you do not have to refill it as often!

Using Crystal Litter in the LitterWorks Litter Disposal System with a LitterMaid (any Model).

Crystal Litter is not a clumping litter. If you decide to use it in your LitterWorks Litter Disposal System, keep in mind the following:

• Crystal Litter is a descicant. A desiccant is a substance that induces or sustains a state of dryness in its local vicinity.
• Crystal Litter will not clump. Rather it will dry out solid waste, and it will absorb liquid waste.
• Crystal Litter reaches a saturation point. When Crystal Litter reaches a saturation point because of liquid waste, you will detect an odor. At this point it is time to change the litter. If the odor is only slight, you might try "refreshing" the litter by adding a few cups of fresh crystals.
• Crystal Litter continues it's drying action in the waste liner. One of the reasons why people like the Crystal Litter so much is because it's drying and absorption action continues in the waste area. This further reduces odor.
• Crystal Litter lasts longer. Because Crystal Litter doesn't clump, less of it is removed from the litter area, and therefore you do not have to refill it as often!
• Because it doesn't clump, less strain is put on the LitterMaid motor.

Well, that's a tough question, but we're glad this gets asked. As we all know, cats are finicky creatures, and actual performance may vary, but we have found that the setup that works best in out various situations is the:

LitterWorks LitterMaid Litter Disposal System (LW412LMS)

This model has the best mix of value, reliability, and odor control. Although the more expensive and bigger models offer more features, we have found that this particular model offers a very similar "litter area size", and it is our opinion that the reliability of this model is the best of all the models. As you do your research, you might find that the LitterMaid Elite Mega models are described as having a larger litter area. We have found that the extra area is added by having a convex bottom. This additional litter area only adds depth, and if the LitterMaid is doing it's job properly by sweeping away clumps as needed, then extra depth is not really that helpful.
