Inspirational Quotes with Cattitude

"Cats are glorious creatures who must on no accounts be underestimated...Their eyes are fathomless depths of cat-world mysteries. --Lesley Anne Ivory"

"I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue. Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it. She looks up and gives me her full gaze. 'Don't be ridiculous, she purrs, I wrote it.' --Dilys Laing"

"Cats are a mysterious kind of folk. There is more passing in their minds than we are aware of. --Sir Walter Scott"

Feeding Your Cat: Know The Basics of Feline Nutrition

cat_in_food_bowlDiet is the brick and mortar of health.  This web page lays out some often-ignored principles of feline nutrition and explains why cats have a better chance at optimal health if they are fed a canned food diet instead of dry kibble.  Putting a little thought into what you feed your cat(s) can pay big dividends over their lifetime and very possibly help them avoid serious, painful, and costly illnesses.  An increasing number of American Veterinary Medical Association members, including board-certified veterinary internists, are now strongly recommending the feeding of canned food instead of dry kibble.

Scoopfree vs. Scoopmaid

Who says there's no drama in the automatic self cleaning cat litter box world?  If anyone has been following the Scoopfree vs. Scoopmaid saga, you already know that super high-tech is not the only place there is legal drama.

Littermaid holds the primary patent for automatic litter boxes that use a rake to scoop waste into a container at one end of the litter box.  In the past 4-5 years, other companies have designed and marketed similar devices, the main difference being that the drive mechanism is not on the rake itself.  Scoopfree is one of those companies.

Then, recently, Littermaid introduced the "Scoopmaid" brand of litter box and companion litter tray cartridge, which to the common observer is a near exact clone to the Scoopmaid version.  The motors even sound the same.  The average shopper for Scoopfree brand replacement litter cartridges has noticed that the only version available in Petsmart is the Scoopmaid brand.  And now Scoopfree has a patent on their own box/cartridge combination!  Who's violating who's patent?

New Littermaid Classic Series model LM980

Just when we though we had it all figured out with the Littermaid product line, LM500, LM900, LM900 Mega, LME9000 Elite Mege, LME9000 Elite Mega Ultimate Edition, etc etc etc.... Now Littermaid is pulling one out of the Coca Cola playbook.  I guess it is human nature to want to put your "stamp" on something, to improve something that obviously needs improving, OR does it?  Anyone remember when "new coke" came out?  Surely none of those highly paid marketing experts and scientists weren't 100% sure that this was a far superior product than the old 100 year old recipe.  After all, what did they know about marketing, let alone chemistry back in the old days?

How to Keep an Indoor Cat Happy

Happy CatMy attitude, to owning cats changed a few years ago. I was brought up, like so many people of my age, in the belief, that 'cats went out with the milk bottles'. But milk no longer comes in glass bottles. Times have changed and like wise we should not remain in dinosaur land.
